I upgraded from 2.0 to 2.3 and found that opening an .ods spreadsheet of about
1600x10 cells (converted some time ago from .xls) caused both Calc and other
applications to become slow and jerky in Win98SE. Even mouse movement was
affected, but there were no error messages or other symptoms, and this happened
with other largeish .ods files. I turned off the spellchecker, but to no
effect. I uninstalled 2.3 and installed 2.2 which was much better, in load time
and in smoothness.

I wonder if perhaps OOo 2.3 is not yielding time to I/O processes as often as
2.2 did, which might not show up in 2000/XP.
