------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Nov 8 20:05:51 +0000 2007 ------- OOo Writer 2.3.0, Win XP SP-2, German version, dies approximately 5-10 seconds after opening a ODT file (ca. 250 kB, including ca. 150 pages of text, some tables, and some referenced images). Symptoms: OOo becoms unresponsive; Windows Task Manager says: "Not responding" (in German: "Keine Rückmeldung"). The process "soffice.bin" consumes approximately 50 MB of RAM (of 2 GB) and causes a constant CPU load of 49-50% (on an Intel Core 2 Duo; on a uniprocessor system, this would most probably be 100%); soffice.exe uses 2,2 MB of RAM and causes 0% CPU load. Both processes can be killed by selecting "soffice.bin" and selecting "terminate process structure" (in German: "Prozesstruktur beenden"). When starting OOo writer the next time, it tries to "rebuild" the document (in German: "OpenOffice.org Dokumentwiederherstellung"); this finishes with the message "Successfully rebuilt" (German: "Erfolgreich wiederhergestellt"), then OOo dies again. This loops, until I instruct OOo _not_ to try to rebuild the document. This is absolutely reproducable on my system; it is impossible to open the document without causing OOo to die. With a blank document, OOo writer works as usual. Also, the behaviour remains after rebooting the operating system. In anyone is interested to check this out, I can provide the document by E-Mail.
