I encountered the following problem in OOo Writer 2.3.0 (Finnish version) on
WinXP. If you begin writing the first word of a bulleted item with some sort of
formatting (italics, bold, underline), then turn the formatting off, write
something more, and then on the same item try to turn the same formatting on
again, the last chunk of text remains in regular type. For instance:

1. Start up a bulleted list
2. Press Ctrl-I or the italics button in the toolbar
3. Write a word
4. Press Ctrl-I or the button in the toolbar to turn italics off
5. Write another word
6. Press Ctrl-I or the button in the toolbar to turn italics on
7. Write a third word

The result will be:

* First Second Third

While I would expect:

* First Second Third

Actually, the inability to apply formatting to anything beyond the beginning of
the item gets inherited even on the following items in the same list. That is,
if I try to write the next item in the list with italics on the second word
only, it does not work, but the whole item is set in regular type.

The same happens with bold following bold and underline following underline,
too. On the other hand, if you begin the line with italics and later on try to
apply bold or underline, it does work as expected.
