I really don't use open office myself but tried to setup a solution for a
family member. I did this a few months ago so I am getting fuzzy on the details
but thought I would share my findings. While doing this, I created one sheet
with a basic form that had cells with validation of the contents which were
retrieved from a different tab. The fields were dropdown boxes which would be
populated from the other sheet. (I had multiple validation lists on the other
tab)

although I was able to get it working, if I made any significant changes on the
main sheet like inserting a row or shifting cells down, the reference for the
validation to the other tab would fail and thus the values in the drop down
would be the wrong data.

I don't have open office installed on my machine (owned by my employer) but I
could re-install on a virtual machine to duplicate if you consider this worth
further investigation.

The family member would have been happy to stick with open office but the
continual loss of a correct link to the data on another tab just wasn't going
to be a workable solution and he did purchase a copy of MS office so that the
validation links would remain.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions regarding this and if you
would like me to setup a virtual machine to duplicate the issue.

Sincerely,

Craig Pero. ([EMAIL PROTECTED])
