I can confirm this issue (1.9.84) -- but this might be an RFE as I have noticed
this behavior consistently since 1.0.* -- and agree that it is quite irritating.

I created a 16 page document, saved it, and then added additional text to extend
the length of the document to 20 pages. Leaving the cursor at the end of the
document, but scrolling to the first page, upon saving (both manual save and
auto save), the screen position returns to the cursor position, i.e., at the end
of the document. This then requires the user to find their previous screen
position in the document.
