------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Nov 22 12:56:43 +0000 2007 ------- After studing the code in CERT_VerifyCertificate ( mozilla/security/nss/lib/certhigh/certvfy.c) I'd say that certificateUsageObjectSigner is used for x509v3 certificates with the key usage extension digitalSignature or keyCertSign. The latter only when it is a CA certificate. I could not find code that suggest the meaning of ProtectedObjectSigner. In fact I could not find code that effectively uses it. Since the meaning is unclear I am against using it, unless someone can explain it to me :) --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
