There are two aspects of this problem:
1. the Kalos font family itself
"Kalos Book" has the font weight "normal" (in both pfb and afm)
"Kalos Medium" has the font weight "medium" (in both pfb and afm)
Mapping "regular" to "normal" seems like a perfect match, right?
2. Writer is inconsistent with its own import/export and the Format->Character
dialog
invents styles like "regular" that don't exist in the font family.
Only the second aspect, i.e. the inconsistency in Writer can be fixed by OOo
and there
probably the import-/export-filter is at fault => reassigning
