In OOO another dialog appears where you can set how OOO imports Unicode text. In theory, one can use this, but in practice I haven't use this so far (and never once missed it in Excel). On the other hand, it decreases productivity. One idea would be to remove dialog from current "Unicode text" option, and add another option like "Unicode text with dialog accommodation".
