------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Mar 16 06:51:40 -0800 2005 ------- I encountered a strange problem after upgrading my PC from SuSE Linux 9.1 to 9.2: various OpenOffice fonts became unreadable because successive letters were written on top of each other. For example, the names of the menus you see when OpenOffice starts, also the registration dialogue and some (but not all) of the entries within the menus. It's hard to describe, but I will attach a screenshot. As you wave your mouse over the menus some of the words switch between clear and unreadable. I did some experiments and found I could make the problem go away by changing the X server's font path with the xset command. Our department runs a font server on a Linux 9.1 computer (this computer has NOT been recently upgraded), and if I removed the font server from the font path and restarted OpenOffice then all the menus were fine. Of course it could be the updated X server that is at fault here, but I have only seen the strange behaviour when running OpenOffice. My experiments were done with: OpenOffice 1.1.4 X server X.Org version: 6.8.1 running on SuSE Linux 9.2 Font server XFree86 version 4.3.99 I did a quick experiment with OpenOffice 2.0 beta and the same thing happened.
