I can reproduce the problem as described by seyedjafari with OOo-Dev 2.4 (m241)
and OOo 2.3.1 under Kubuntu 6.06. At the end if you try to undo, you do not
recover the empty column after the TOC. I think it proves that there is a bug in
page layout updating.
Manually updating page layout after having inserting the TOC, has no effect. But
"updating all" do the job (Tools > Update > update all ? from french : Outils >
Actualiser > Tout actualiser).
