(a) Using the Tools>Cell Contents>Recalculate (F9) route gives no changes. (b) Using the Edit>Links>Update route as described by gaf314159 does update the cell, but only to the last saved position in the source sheet. (c) Using the File>Reload options described by cloph works but only if I reject any other changes I may have made to the document. Whilst this is a possible workround, it does lead to the possibility of a loss of data - never a good thing! As a recent convert from MS Office and WinXP, I am kind of used to the F9 refresh route giving me this function, and something around that solution would be my preference. However, the solution (b) is just as valid. One further observation with option (b): The link that I am updating did not allow me to change it to an automatic update (the radio buttons on the dialog box are greyed out). There may be an occasion where this is preferable to a manual update of the data - for example, a reporting spreadsheet that collates numerous totals from several sources.
