------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Jan 7 16:39:34 +0000 2008 ------- Hi I've posted this before and was told to expand on it, but can't seem to figure out how to do it, so I'll waste some server space and "expand" here. I teach face to face and online at a junior college. I had a student who was talking to his computer do do assignments in the classroom, before class, and using the onboard laptop mic using Vista's voice recognition. Since I do so much online work, I am having problems with my hands, and had purchased a Vista machine to be able to interact with the j/c, which has gone completely to Office 2007. Prior to that I was completely Linux, using OO. Due to that change I had to use the Vista machine and so tried the voice recognition on it. For those who may not know: "Aero Glass" which was pooh poohed as "vapourware" has "slid in under the radar" in the file structure of Vista and the Office suite. The voice recognition is a seamless operation, which takes about FIVE MINUTES to train on the machine. I talk the response to an assignment, say: FILE, then "SHOW NUMBERS" and semitransparent, shiney, color coordinated, Aero Glass buttons appear on all the file commands with a unique number. I say the number of say "save as" it asks for confirmation, I than say the number for say "rtf" it asks for confirmation, then the number for "save", again confirmation, and it is done, end of story, no crash no foul. I would really like respectfully suggest that the "voice recogniton", if there is one, be moved forward on the agenda. And while I'm at it, Microsith is now pushing "Surface" a "coffee table computer" which was originally a LINUX application. I produced and advertised, with money, Calypso Dancer, which I hoped might be a way to galvanize the community on "touch" stuff also...if anyone wants to give a go at that, feel free, we/I have done all we can with it, and it is free to the community. Thanks for your consideration on what I consider to be a relatively important matter. woodsmoke4 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
