I was able to reproduce the bug using the steps mentioned in the first comment. I was also able to reproduce the same problem in XUbuntu 7.10. I have found a workaround to this problem. If you want to use your mouse to resize the columns and rows of a table in a business card then you could use the mouse to use the slider (on top for columns and on the left for rows) to resize the rows and columns of the table. The mouse pointer changes to the typical PLUS (+) like icon to tell you that you can resize the column/row now.
