I tried to reproduce this with different Adobe PostScript (pfb&pfa) fonts,
but failed. Fonts I tried:

Adobe Utopia (from X11/TexLive):

<80>^A<F3>[EMAIL PROTECTED]@%!PS-AdobeFont-1.0: Utopia-Bold 001.001
%%CreationDate: Wed Oct 2 18:24:56 1991
% License clarified 17 November 2006; pfb update 19 November 2006.

Adobe Garamond (from a CD bought from Adobe)

%!PS-AdobeFont-1.0: AGaramond-Regular 001.003
%%CreationDate: Wed Jan 20 17:12:35 1999

Bitstream Charter (also from X11)

%!PS-AdobeFont-1.0^M%%CreationDate: Fri Nov 2 19:00:13 1990^M% Bitstream Type 1
Font Program^M% Copyright 1990 as an unpublished work by Bitstream Inc.,
Cambridge, MA.

I suspect this is something that is triggered only by some fonts, like
your version of Souvenir.

Debian OpenOffice.org 2.3.1, Linux i386
