2008 -------
While Editing a database there's no "undo"/"redo", that would allow for
restoration of accidental change in datafield type.
This might have been a solved issue in 2.3

Create a database with at least one fieldtype to [varchar].
Enter data into all fields.
Save and close.
Then edit the format so that one textfield becomes [intiger].
Save and exit.
Then edit again, and it will not allow you to set the field-type to [varchar].
