If I manage to corrupt another file I'll try to provide more information. To
provide additional history on this document, it was originally created using
earlier versions of MS Excel and saved as an early format so I could edit the
file both at home and work. I believe I was saving it in Excel 95 version.

A few months ago I started using OpenOffice Calc to edit the document. Since
then things have been working fine except for these two instances of
corruption. From the information immediately available it seems we could answer
some questions by investigating the other document. Does the "pre" document
also suffer from being an RTF document? If not we can theorize that at some
point the document was corrupted by an RTF software writing to it, perhaps with
the contents of a completely different document? Since I use OpenOffice
exclusively now on that machine this may be a Writer problem?
