The following thoughts occur to me: 1) It affects all three of my installations. 2) "Slow to start" has always been an issue with openoffice, and so a new user might think this problem to be "normal". 3) Any new user experiencing this problem would simply give up on openoffice, so it is entirely possible that there will be little response to this posting, even though it is appears to be a critical error. If anyone can give me more information as to what Openoffice actually is doing when it starts up I can investigate further.
