The question that arises here is: later than what? Later than version 3.0? I don't know whether this is the most important/critical issue that OOo has. But not being able to use OpenType fonts (althought it seems that they will be displayed in OOo 3.0) makes OOo less usable. Just in case it might help, I think that considering cairo for efficient PDF generation would be interesting and helpful. But I wonder whether cairo could generate hybrid PDF files.
