------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Apr 11 00:45:58 +0000 2008 ------- I've been around on this as well. It's a nasty glitch, but the only people it affects are those few who have multiple builds of OOo installed, so it doesn't seem like that high a priority. As far as I can tell, the problem comes from the fact that upgrading a package implies both installing the new updated package and removing the old package. The removal operation for both yum and rpm removes all packages that match the base name of the package being updated. If any other installed packages happen to have the same base name, then they are removed along with the package that was updated. The Fedora-packaged OOo and the OO.org-packaged OOo have some package names in common. When the Fedora packages are removed as part of a Fedora update, the OO.org packages whose names match the Fedora packages are removed as well. It does seem unfortunate that there is not more interest in coordinating the package names to avoid such conflicts, but changing package names is perhaps not as easy as it sounds. I work around the problem by updating the Fedora packages manually: first removing the installed Fedora packages (specifically, using the full name & version), then installing the update. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
