As a new convert, OOo works great, I must say, but the UI is pretty dull and univiting (despite being neat, clear and functional). I feel that enhancing the UI alone could bring in more converts like myself. For example, I've noticed that the page background, i.e. the application space BEHIND the page, in Writer is a dull gray. Why not add some colour/bitmap to the background, so that when there is no file open, one can see some nice image/colour.
