The data entry field below shows that Windows Explorer is trying to open the non-existent v2.3.1. When right-clicked Open Office is not in the "Open with" list. If "Choose program" is selected and swriter.exe is selected, even if "Always use this program to open these files" is selected, the action is not remembered. Note: 602PC Suite (build 4.0.04.0401) is installed on this machine and at one time was the default application for .doc files (but not for other file types). This is the only reason I can think of that might explain why .doc files handle differently to the other file types mentioned below. MS Office viewers are also installed. 602PC Suite and MS viewers continue to be available for selection on the "open with" menus. .xls .ppt .pps .odp .odt .ott (and probably other files types): --------------------------------------------------------------- When double-clicked the files open OK. Notes ===== This issue seems to have similarities to Issue 53811 concerning v2 (apparently fixed in 2.0.1) This error occurs after upgrading from v2.3.1 to v2.4.0, whether or not v2.3.1 is uninstalled first. It no longer occurs when uninstalling 2.4.0 and reinstalling v2.3.1.
