Not sure if this is due to a defect in calc or base, but it seems that base
breaks the rules.

Using a database (based on sqlite-odbc with everything - application, database,
tables, queries, columns set to german locale, which means the decimal symbol is
the colon) and a spreadsheet (dito, everything german locale)

When copying a whole table or query that has decimal numbers and pasting them to
calc, they appear with a dot instead of a colon, a lot of them being recognized
as text, the rest lost due to the fact that they are interpreted as a date: e.g
the number 1,75 (note the colon!) is pasted as 1.75 and then interpreted as
01.01.75 and 2,04 will be 01.02.04 a.s.o., and there is no easy way to get the
number back.

The reason is: when copied to the clipboard floats are converted to the
english/us locale, not respecting the locale of table, query, database,
application and system.

Tried to set the spreadsheet table to english(us), but as soon as i paste the
data the filled fields are reset to locale:standard, and numbers are
misinterpreted. The only workaround I found was setting the locale to
english(us) for the whole application, then pasting to calc and then reverting
to german locale - this keeps everything intact.

The other way round it works: copying a spreadsheet and pasting it to a table by
right clicking and choosing insert keeps the locale - with the new 2.4 feature
better than ever. The clipboard holds decimals in local format.

As calcs behaviour is consistent I think that base should also use local
formatting rules when copying floats or dates to the clipboard.

I did not notice this with previous versions of OOo, but I am not sure if I did
then copy whole tables with decimal numbers.
