Reduce the horizontal size of the spreadsheet window until icon(s) move from the visible portion of the Formatting Toolbar to the toolbar's dropdown list. Clicking on these icons when they are in the dropdown list fails to pop up the icon's chooser: Borders, Background Color, and Font Color.
