OOo uses the first sort list, where the entry matches, for its recognition. If you want month names in capitals but still be the data type 'date' (which is a sort of number), then delete the 'Jan,Feb,Mar,...' list and add a 'JAN,FEB,MAR,..' list. But then you cannot have lower characters.
