Having the option for a split window view, especially on a laptop, is most useful for academics, technical writers and authors. You may want to move a block of text in a long document. Having a split window allows the user to copy/paste and compare both the original block and the new block prior to committing changes. Otherwise, one has to scroll through a potentially long document between sections to perform the same action. It is literally the one feature that has kept (the expensive) MSO on my Macs and PCs.
