------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu May 22 23:20:34 +0000 2008 ------- OpenOffice.org email merge is almost suitable for big projects with the exception of throttling. Scenario: The company sends out an account notice to 10,000 constituents. Within the first hour, 10% people respond via phone and web. This creates three problems 1. Overloading the SMTP gateway (for email going out) 2. Overloading the phone lines (from the responses) 3. Overloading the web site (from the responses) Solution: Simply pause X seconds after sending each email. The user enters the value for X. Even better would be an option to send all emails within Y amount of time (user just enters Y), so OpenOffice.org would calculate the delay based on Y and the number of records. Note: Is there a hook that would make this easy to do as an extension? --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
