I reproduced this bug in the following virtual machine/OS.
Machine:Intel Pentium D 3.20 GHZ with 736mb RAM - Virtual PC 2007
OS: Windows XP Pro version 2002 SP2
There is no obvious activity running concurrently on the host machine.
Steps:
*I produced a simple three slide presentation with a 28 kb jpeg in image in the
first slide and the same 184kb bitmap image in the next two slides.
*Slide transition set to Wheel Clockwise, 3 spokes - Speed = medium and Advance
Slide = Automatically after 1 sec. Applies to All Slides
*Clicked the <Slide Show> button in Slide Transition to initiate Slide show
**Result: Renders slowly
*Used Slide Show Menu > Slide Show option
**Result: Renders slowly
*Used the <F5> key to begin Slide Show
**Result: Renders slowly
*This was performed on an unsaved slide show and then repeated again on after
saving the slide show
