It also indicates highlights the challenge of designing, programming, and enhancing an application of the complexity of OOo. As in the construction of buildings, it can be much easier to add a feature during the initial design phase than to retro-fit it after completion of the construction of that design. If the space in the status bar has already been allocated then it could be quite a problem to add this functionality while maintaining the others which already consume the space in the status bar. OOo has some advantages over MS Word. OOo is not intended to be a copy of MS Word. Microsoft does create some annoying problems for the world.
