Please test the latest build: ftp://ooopackages.good-day.net/pub/OpenOffice.org/MacOSX/Dev_DEV300_m21/ and tell us what happens. Using this build on Intel, 10.5.3, I have had no problems with file recovery. Hopefully, this problem is fixed.
