I have a document with no pictures or advanced formatting, it is 300 pages on ooo 2.4.1 running vista the file is under 500kb I have the auto save set to 5 mins as I type fast. When ever the autosave kicks in writer hangs for 5 plus seconds and does not record anything I have typed during that period. 5 seconds may not sound like much but every 5 minutes and then the loss of typed text and then the whole having to start again is doing my head in. I know I could easily put this up to 10 minutes. But if it crashes I loose too much for my liking. on office xp I did not have this issue, on auto save I could keep typing and the text would appear after the save. And although I have a "friend" with 2007 I really don't want it yet this is doing my head in. The only other thing I can say is that if I manually save I get the same response time. Also accessing the file menu after this auto save takes another 4 seconds as it hangs and then appears. Sometimes this hang goes on for 15 seconds. All this just adds to my paranoia about it crashing and loosing my work It looks like a memory problem on the outset, but the system is running fine, and ooo is taking up little in the resource meter Any ideas? I have seen the post viewtopic.php?f=30&t=1097&p=4276&hilit=book#p4276 I am trying the memory options but not got a clue what does what. UPDATE. I added a most in memory options to around 300 but no difference.
