OpenOffice.org will generally open the QuickStart window if it doesn't have any 
previous documents to 
restore. On boot, it will offer you choices, e.g. the QuickStart window, or the 
choice of restoring or 
reopening previous docs.

Note that you can also use the Dock icon to open a new document of your chosen 
type. That's a useful 
shortcut. Have a look. ;)

I am marking this issue Invalid since OpenOffice.org already offers the user a 
choice of document 
actions. If you want this choice to change in some way, please submit a feature 
request. OpenOffice.org 
is already doing the job it's asked to do, so we can't call that a defect.
