Why is this suddenly my task, without knowing anything about the desired
process?
I cannot find a solution in this task.
But one more comment: To find an installed product and offer a checkbox, in
which the user is asked, if the wants to uninstall the found product or install
next to the installed product is a Windows Installer feature. Windows is product
based.
The Java GUI Installer for our Unix installation sets is only a wrapper, that
simplifies the installation of packages. If the packages have the same names,
then the system update processes allow an update of the installed product. If
the packages have different names as we have between SO 8 and SO 9 the system
allows parallel installation. But the Java GUI Installer of a SO 9 has
absolutely no information about the SO 8 packages that need to be uninstalled.
This would require a very tricky new process with hard coded package names.
is -> mh: Do we have a solution for this task?
