well, as you noticed yourself, the reason for the different spacing is that the
original font is not available.
If you replace Arial by a good-quality font such as Arial Unicode or Lucida Sans
Unicode, Tahoma,... there are no spacing problems as described in this issue.
Since OOo cannot fix every font with bad metrics, you need to live with slight
display problems when a replacement font is used.
Ther are already other issues to make it more prominent that a font-substitution
took place, so I consider this issue as not a problem (you can only work with
what is available, and if what is available has low quality, you get low
quality)
