1. Create a document in OOo Writer containing Thai text

2. Save it in Writer in Word 97/2000/XP .doc format

3. Open it in Word 2003. I tried both the version from Office 2003 Thai edition
and the freely downloabable Microsoft Office Word Viewer 2003.

4. Observe that in most runs of Thai text, all characters display as hollow
boxes. Runs that contain no combining characters display OK (except that font
and font size is wrong), but if a run contains any combining character then all
characters in the run are displayed as hollow characters. Most runs of Thai
text will contain combining characters.

Attached is an example document with 3 Thai characters, then an English word,
the 4 Thai characters. The first run of Thai text contains no combining
characters and displays OK; the second run displays as hollow boxes.

This is probably related to Issue #42909. I've marked this as P2, because it
means that basic functionality (.doc export) is not working in a complex script
environment.

If the .doc file created by Writer is then saved by Word 2003 as XML, it is
interesting to note that the entire text is a single <w:r>. Whereas if the
document is created in Word 2003, then there will be three <w:r> elements, and
the first and last <w:r> elements, which contain the Thai characters, are all
marked with a <w:cs/> element, which indicates that the run contains complex
script. I wonder whether the problem is that the .doc exporter is not marking
complex script runs with the .doc equivalent of <w:cs/>.
