For 3 beta 2 the effect starts when loading a 2nd document, which is already significantly slower. When loading 5 copies "concurrently" the effect is the same, so it is already to be noticed, when the 2nd document is loaded, so that 2 documents are open at the same time. AppleSpell.Service process wasn't active on my test machine.
