Replication: simply download the file referenced here.

The gdocs.update.xml comes from the extension's owner. But I simply changed the
filename and path to my own web server (both for gdocs.update.xml and for the
file referenced in gdocs.update.xml) and tried the process in DEV300_m23.

I didn't get 404 error. There was a successful GET request in my web server log
(as the one below). Extension Manager displays "No error", but on the next
launch of OOo, the previous version is only uninstalled and the newer one is
never installed. Something must be broken.

The error log shows three HTTP requests:

83.6.84.60 - - [17/Jul/2008:02:23:12 -0600] "OPTIONS /gdocs-1.0.2.oxt HTTP/1.1"
200 316 "-" "-"
83.6.84.60 - - [17/Jul/2008:02:23:12 -0600] "PROPFIND /gdocs-1.0.2.oxt HTTP/1.1"
405 801 "-" "-"
83.6.84.60 - - [17/Jul/2008:02:23:13 -0600] "GET /gdocs-1.0.2.oxt HTTP/1.1" 200
782993 "-" "-"

I don't know the if the web server referenced in the original gdocs.update.xml
does support all three requests. A web browser request does only GET and it
finds the exact file that is missing according to the extension manager. So it
might be failure of the web server, and this is why "file not found" is
displayed. But anyway, the file is never installed even if it is downloaded from
the web server. This happens only with dotted or slashed filenames.

Reassigning to jl.
