I don't understand your description. Please describe step by step. What do you
do, what does OOo show and what do you expect to see.
Because date format depends on language and local please add: What is your
setting in Tools > Options > Language Settings > Languages? What is your setting
in the cell style 'Default' on the Numbers tab in the category All and in the
category Date?
What date format do you have set in operating system?
