We are currently thinking about a mechanism to make/allow "incompatible" changes that are not really incompatible. But this changes should be made explicit and people should think about it, they have to document it and if necessary have to provide a migration. But first we have to agree what kind of changes are allowed. Having simply a whitelist without further definition which changes are allowed is useless from my point of view. That means not that i don't support the general idea of changes in the API.
