Creating a filled element, for example a rectangle with a border of the smallest
width, yields an element that consumes for example 1cm x 1cm of space.

Removing the border (setting the border width to "none" or "invisible") does not
necessarily remove the border but only sets it to invisible. It seems as if
there is no border of width 0, so elements that have no border will not be as
wide as they originally are required to be, i.e. 1cm x 1cm. This will yield
problems with the grid, when layouting elements manually, i.e. they will either
snap with the right border to the grid on the right side or, when moving a bit
to the left, will snap to the grid along the left or bottom border of the
element.

It would be nice to have this implemented according to the CSS 2/3
specifications, where borders will not add to the elements width, but instead
will consume space of the innerwidth of the element, in order to assure that the
elements exact width and height still remains 1cm x 1cm.

Would that be possible?
