This seems to be a misunderstanding. There are two symbols for each currency,
one is the ISO-4217 currency abbreviation, here CHF, used in banking and
financial transfers, and the other is the symbol used in writing and maybe on
notes and coins, currently "SFr." in our locale data. According to
"MÃnzverordnung vom 12. April 2000 (MÃnzV),  Stand am 16. Dezember 2003."

the official currency symbol should be "Fr." instead, with different
capitalization for different languages. I just wonder why locale data of most
systems use "SFr." instead? Can someone please clarify?

Btw, Andre, de_FL doesn't exist, it's de_LI you're referring. And given the
facts above it doesn't seem right to me that it uses CHF even in "normal"
currency formats. It should use "SFr." or "Fr.", depending on the outcome of 
above.
