I also see the note that says OOo can't distinguish between highlighter and backgrounds. I support either querying the user on export or warning the user on export about how to remove the highlighting. Alternatively specific background colors (ie the OOo standard flourescent colors) could be exported as highlighter, with the rest exported as backgrounds. This last one will probably work most of the time for most people.
