Currently the OOo equation editor allows text formatting to be applied to the
entire equation. Often, one may want to format a specific part of the equation,
such as making a specific variable red to draw attention to it, or to use a bold
V for velocity, to differentiate it from V (volume) and v (specific volume).
There are many other examples where formating individual letters in the text
editor would be useful, as opposed to formating the entire equation.
