------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Aug 23 19:17:33 +0000 2008 ------- In the file Open dialog, to make it easier for users without training or technical backgrounds to understand, reword "All files" to "Show all files" and reword "File type" to "Open as file type". To an unfamiliar person, it would seem obvious that "All files" already means to open all the files and therefore that file type is redundant and need not be selected. Similarly, File > Save As > Save dialog > Browse for other folders produces a drop-down menu showing ODF Text Document (.odt) as a file type and next to it is another control for File type. While a tooltip is helpful, only one exists, so no distinction is made, and anyway too few people use tooptips. So, please edit "File type" to "Save as file type" and label the drop-down menu that defaults to ODF Text Document (.odt) as "Show files of type". I'm using OOo Writer 2.4.0, without Java Runtime Environment, on Linux Fedora Core 4.
