And YES, if I open the image file using the File>open in the main OOo window, it crashes too. So this is NOT exactly a "insert" problem. BTW I also carried out another experiment, and came across a slightly different crash: I copied the jpg to another folder that did NOT have the problem. This time, I could at least use the command to insert the picture. But before OOo could ACTUALLY show the inserted picture in the file, it crashed. But at least this time it lasted a little more (till I could insert the picture). In yet another repeat of the experiment, it actually showed the picture for a couple of seconds, and then crashed. (This image was also taken from a "normal" folder.) To conclude, I see FOUR different crashes; probably depending on the source folder- 1. Crash as soon as I navigate to the partition/folder (even before I actually insert the image) 2. Crash just after the insertion, but BEFORE OOo shows the inserted picture in the file. 3. Crash after OOo shows the inserted picture for 2-3 seconds. 4.
