I use a 4 years old IBM Thinkpad T42 laptop with Windows XP, newest drivers installed. It looks like a new problem with 3.0 RC 1 to me (I have the German version). 2.x versions have worked flawlessly on this machine for years, afaik previous 3.x betas, too (at least I did not notice the problem). See the screenshot I'll supply in a minute. I'll supply the involved odt file on request.
