This is a follow-up to issue 39756

Problems with the current state (fixed with the patch)
The "create the link in /etc"-script is run for the individual packages as well
as for the core-package.
This is not a problem when installing everything at the same time, but it will
unnecessarily be executed everytime when installing the modules one-by-one.

Another problem: update-desktop-database is not run when the individual modules
are uninstalled. While this is not a severe problem (when the desktop-system
tries to access the broken link it will notice that it is no longer present),
but I think you should clean up after yourself.

Not strictly a freedesktop-thing but fixed with the patch as well:
nautilus (the gnome file manager) needs on the mimetype icons to have a special
name, otherwise it doesn't assign the icon to the file. (most recent gnome-mime
package has OOo icons/filetypes included, but older versions don't)
So the spec now creates symlinks with the appropriate names.

I'm not sure whether you have the information that gnome doesn't like filenames
with more than one dot (in redhat/makefile.mk) - this may be ancient versions
and surely doesn't apply to gnome 2.6 or above (gnome-icon-theme installs icons
with multiple dots..) - In fact gnome2.10 relies on the dots..
