OOXML/docx import is not really working, which may discourage users from using
OOo. A quick solution would create one more reason to switch, and I think I have
found a simple solution. There is an open source project that can convert docx
(and supposedly all other OOXML formats) to open document format, and it seems
to work MUCH better than the current import filter, it can be obtained at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/odf-converter/. Why not use this to open
docx/OOXML files at least until there is an own filter? Maybe even some parts
might be taken from it (or it could be taken as a whole) to avoid reinventing
the wheel.

As I said, if a user considering using OOo cannot open docx correctly, he will
probably stick with M$, but if a user with an old MS Office sees that OOo can
open docx without problems, he might consider switching instead of upgrading to
MS Office 2007 or getting the compatibility pack. The longer this takes to
address, the longer users will be frustrated and the more users will remember
the problems for a long time and discourage others from using OOo.

Even if this would not be used as a permanent solution, I think it should be
used at least temporarily as it should be really easy to integrate it.
