------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Sep 22 16:31:16 +0000 2008 ------- Sun does not support FreeBSD directly but we have "patchsets" against Sun's SCSL and JRL sources: http://www.freebsd.org/java/ These patchsets don't touch the vendor string at all. Thus, the default vendor string ("Sun Microsystems Inc.") is set. We also have binary releases from the FreeBSD Foundation: http://www.freebsdfoundation.org/downloads/java.shtml These binaries are based on the same patchsets but they have gone through JCK certification processes. From JDK6, we started modifying the vendor string to avoid confusions with the SCSL/JRL versions while older (now unsupported) releases used to modify version numbers and left the vendor string intact. I hope it helps. JK --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
