Do the listed languages have a check? Same question that opens in menu 'Options -> tools -> Language Settings -> Writing Aids -> "Hunspell Checker" -> Edit' Does spell check work if you select other languages in the document? Did you try to reinstall with deleting your "profile" (Folder "Documents and Settings -> Anwendungsdaten (I do not know the English word)-> OpenOffice.org"?
