The current behavior also has the following problems - it is completely hellish to try to select the stuff, you have to place the mouse cursor precisely on characters to activate the "text box" that contains the notes - it has margins all around, as if I was taking notes on paper. Huge waste of space or my already tiny screen. If I wanted to take notes by hand, I would be using blank paper or print out the slides, I don't want the drawbacks of paper on my screen when I take notes with a laptop. - it doesn't scroll. Ever tried taking huge amounts of notes on one slide?
